The Hangover Loves. . .
David Lynch

How do we start even discussing how genius he is? As much as we are fans of ALL of his movies: Blue Velvet, Fire Walk With Me, Eraserhead, The Straight Story, etc., we were completely blown away by Mulholland Drive. He just keeps on getting better. He is one of the only true artists making films today. His films are works of art, beautiful and haunting, and they effect you in a way that sometime you can't put your finger on.
The only bad thing about seeing a David Lynch film in a theater is having to watch it with an audience. People have no idea how to react to his films because he doesn't use straight narrative structure; his films follow dream logic instead. Audiences just laugh when they can't comprehend something. Once scene involved two girls kissing in one really intense scene, and the audience collectively giggled because they were uncomfortable.
Sure, his films are very uncomfortable, but you can't stop thinking about them weeks after you've them, and you sure can't say that about Cameron Crowe movies.
Look out for the first season of Twin Peaks on DVD, which will be released in December. Blue Velvet is available on DVD as well.
